Vietnamese Community in Laos Welcomes Lunar New Year at Phat Tich Pagoda

Traditional temple visits continue to preserve cultural heritage
Vietnamese people living in Laos have been gathering at Phat Tich Pagoda in Vientiane since the first day of the Lunar New Year, upholding a cherished tradition of Tet celebrations.

For many, visiting a pagoda at the start of the year is more than just a spiritual practice—it is a way to pray for health, peace, and prosperity while leaving behind the burdens of daily life. Phan Thi Nga, a fifty-six-year-old Vietnamese resident born and raised in Laos, shared that she visits the pagoda every Tet with her family, ensuring that younger generations understand and appreciate their cultural roots.

Huynh Thi Diem Trang, another Vietnamese resident in Vientiane, expressed the importance of this custom, highlighting its role in maintaining a deep connection with ancestral traditions. She emphasized that this practice, passed down through generations, must be preserved, particularly among younger Vietnamese living abroad.
