Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone has identified enhancing agricultural production and exports while reducing reliance on imports as a national priority for 2025. Speaking at the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry’s annual meeting on January 31, he outlined key strategies, including developing seed mills, greenhouses, and research labs, while encouraging private sector investment.

PM Sonexay emphasized the need for improved forest management, sustainable farming, and irrigation practices. He also urged greater investment in reforestation to support carbon credit initiatives and eco-tourism. Despite challenges such as outdated farming methods and limited access to modern technology, the government remains committed to poverty reduction and rural development in line with the 2025 National Socio-economic Development Plan.
