Asia-Pacific online shoppers are increasingly seeking flexible delivery options and free returns when making cross-border purchases, according to the 2024 DHL eCommerce Online Shopper Trends Report. The survey highlights that 86 percent of consumers expect real-time tracking for international orders, and the majority prefer next-day delivery, particularly in countries like Thailand and India. Additionally, 43 percent of shoppers only buy from retailers that offer free returns.

The report also notes that shoppers are concerned about the risk of online fraud. Despite the enthusiasm for cross-border e-commerce, more than half of consumers in the region, especially in Malaysia, cite concerns about transaction security. Businesses are encouraged to address these fears by improving transparency and security to gain customer trust.

With 76 percent of Asia-Pacific shoppers buying from international stores at least once a month, the region presents a growing opportunity for businesses. To stay competitive, retailers must provide flexible delivery options and secure payment processes while offering an easy and reliable returns experience.
