Laos Prepares to Host 45th ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly

Over 500 representatives to discuss connectivity, inclusive growth, and regional cooperation.
Laos is gearing up to host the 45th General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) from October 17 to 23, 2024. Sanya Praseuth, Chairman of the Lao National Assembly’s Commission on Foreign Affairs, announced during a press conference that the assembly will focus on enhancing connectivity and inclusive growth across ASEAN, with more than 500 representatives expected to attend.

The assembly will feature 12 key meetings, including discussions on political, economic, and social issues. Resolutions will focus on regional connectivity, narrowing development gaps, and promoting cooperation with other regions. Special sessions for women and young parliamentarians will also take place during the event.

Praseuth emphasized that the 45th AIPA aims to adopt 38 resolutions, touching on critical matters such as economic development, women’s affairs, and fostering cooperation within ASEAN and beyond.
