Lao Trade Union Leader Visits Ca Mau to Learn Worker Support Initiatives

Focus on Enhancing Worker Well-Being and Rights
In a bid to exchange knowledge on worker support initiatives, Leth Xayyaphone, Chairman of the Lao Federation of Trade Unions (LFTU) and member of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP), visited the southernmost province of Ca Mau on July 4. He was accompanied by Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, Thai Thu Xuong.

The delegation visited Viet-Uc Ca Mau One-Member Co. Ltd. in Ngoc Hien district to observe its production process and understand the activities of its grassroots trade union. Tran Thanh Tung, Chairman of the company's grassroots trade union, highlighted their efforts in promoting worker well-being, which include regular worker conferences, open communication through dialogues, and workplace democracy regulations. The union also plays a crucial role in encouraging social insurance enrollment and ensuring workers' access to health, unemployment, and accident insurance.

Xayyaphone praised the grassroots trade union for its dedication to worker care and the Ca Mau provincial Labour Federation for its support in state agencies and enterprises. He expressed positive impressions of Ca Mau and a desire to explore more of the southernmost region of Vietnam in the future.
