A delegation from Hà Nội, led by Chairman Trần Sỹ Thanh, held separate meetings with Vientiane's leadership, including Secretary Anouphap Tounalom. The visit, part of the Meeting of Governors and Mayors of ASEAN Capitals (MGMAC) and the ASEAN Mayors Forum (AMF) 2024, aimed to bolster the special solidarity and cooperation between the two capitals.

Vientiane's leaders highlighted the city's progress in implementing national programmes for economic and financial growth. Both sides expressed hopes for a comprehensive cooperative relationship, emphasizing the ongoing and effective implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Party Committees and administrations of Hà Nội and Vientiane for 2022-25.
