The Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project in Vientiane is progressing steadily, with completion expected by mid-2025 to offer sustainable public transportation for the city’s residents. On October 28, Deputy Minister of Public Works and Transport, Mr. Litta Khatthiya, inspected the construction sites, reporting that approximately thirty percent of the project is completed.

The BRT initiative includes the construction of twenty-seven bus stations in two phases. Construction Company No. 8 is responsible for nineteen stations, with infrastructure fully completed for nine stations, including Phonsa-ad station. The remaining nine stations are currently undergoing foundation work. Additionally, road widening is taking place in narrow sections to improve traffic flow around the centrally located stations.

Upon completion, the BRT system will undergo a three-month trial period, during which the public can use the service free of charge. The official launch of the BRT is scheduled for later in 2025, aiming to enhance Vientiane’s public transportation infrastructure and provide a reliable, eco-friendly transit option for its population.
