The project, aimed at creating a direct sea route for Cambodia, received resounding affirmation from President Sisoulith, emphasizing the enduring friendship between the two nations.

During discussions with Senate President Hun Sen, President Sisoulith expressed Laos' support for the canal initiative, highlighting its potential to significantly enhance Cambodia's transport and investment sectors. He assured that the project would prioritize environmental sustainability, ensuring no adverse impact on the region's ecology.
