Laos and Cambodia Join Vietnam’s Historic Reunification Parade

Foreign troops arrive in HCM City to prepare for landmark 50th anniversary celebration
Military contingents from Laos and Cambodia have arrived in Ho Chi Minh City to take part in rehearsals for Vietnam’s national parade on April 30, marking 50 years since reunification. Over 100 Lao soldiers flew in via Huế, while Cambodian troops crossed the Mộc Bài border gate by land.

The parade, organised by Vietnam’s Ministry of National Defence, will involve over 13,000 participants, including Vietnamese armed forces, militia units, and ceremonial formations from China, Laos, and Cambodia. It underscores growing defence cooperation and regional solidarity, especially with Vietnam’s three closest neighbours.

Scheduled for 6:30am on April 30 along Lê Duẩn Street in District 1, the parade will also include overseas Vietnamese representatives and draw thousands of spectators. The event is part of a broader commemorative programme running from April 19 to 30.
