Super Typhoon Yagi Devastates Vietnam

Super Typhoon Yagi struck Vietnam, claiming 14 lives and injuring 176. Damages include sunk ships, extensive power outages, and destroyed crops over 121,500 hectares. Recovery efforts are underway, but heavy rain and flooding risks continue.
Super Typhoon Yagi made landfall in Vietnam, causing severe devastation and claiming 14 lives while injuring 176 people.

Among the fatalities, four were from Quang Ninh Province, three from Hanoi, one from Hai Phong City, one from Hai Duong Province, one from Military Region 3, and four from one family in Hoa Binh Province due to landslides.

Most injuries occurred in Quang Ninh Province.

Additionally, 25 ships sank, 13 fishermen went missing, and power outages hit five provinces worst affected by the typhoon, including Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Thai Binh, Hai Duong, and Hanoi.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired a recovery meeting, focusing on providing relief to affected areas and families.

The typhoon damaged 3,279 houses and caused the collapse of 401 electricity poles, sweeping away roofs and damaging crops in Thai Binh, Hai Duong, Bac Ninh, Hanoi, and Hai Phong, with around 121,500 hectares of farmland destroyed.

On the brighter side, 46 people stranded were brought to safety.

Heavy rainfall and the risk of flooding and landslides remain high in northern Vietnam.
