Female lawmakers from Vietnam and Laos gathered on April 25 in the northern Lao province of Luang Prabang for a workshop aimed at sharing their experiences in politics and fostering stronger ties between the two nations.

Chairwoman of the Vietnamese National Assembly (NA)’s Social Affairs Committee Nguyen Thuy Anh emphasized the significance of the workshop in tightening bonds between the lawmakers. She highlighted the importance of exchanging information, skills, and experiences to amplify their collective voices on issues concerning women, children, and gender equality, both domestically and internationally.

Chairwoman of the Lao NA's Committee for Cultural and Social Affairs Thummaly Vongphachanh echoed this sentiment, underscoring the workshop's role in implementing cooperation agreements between the two NAs and enhancing solidarity between the countries, legislatures, and female lawmakers’ groups.

Participants engaged in discussions on increasing the representation of women in NAs and People's Councils, sharing insights on participating in multilateral parliamentary activities, and integrating gender equality into legislative processes.

Following their talks, the female lawmakers’ groups from both countries pledged to strengthen collaboration to uphold the enduring friendship and special solidarity between Vietnam and Laos. They committed to boosting visits, exchanges, and joint forums on mutual concerns, sharing information and experiences, and supporting each other in various forums and activities.
