Vietnamese Ambassador Congratulates Laos on 49th National Day at the UN

Vietnam praises Laos’ achievements and strengthening of ASEAN unity during a visit to the Lao Permanent Mission.
On the occasion of Laos' 49th National Day, Ambassador Đặng Hoàng Giang, head of Vietnam’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations, led a Vietnamese delegation to visit the Lao Permanent Mission to the UN in New York. Ambassador Giang extended heartfelt congratulations to the Lao delegation, praising the remarkable achievements of the Lao Party, State, and people in socio-economic development and international integration. He highlighted Laos' successful leadership during its chairmanship of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in 2024, which helped reinforce ASEAN’s unity and centrality, even amid global and regional uncertainties.

Ambassador Giang emphasized Vietnam’s commitment to further strengthening the bilateral relationship between the two countries, particularly in multilateral forums like the UN. He reiterated Vietnam's support for Laos' foreign policies of independence and self-reliance and expressed a desire to continue fostering close coordination between the two delegations at the UN. This would further deepen their great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation.

Ambassador Anouparb Vongnorkeo, head of the Lao Permanent Mission, expressed his gratitude for Vietnam’s strong support, particularly during Laos' chairmanship of the ASEAN Committee in New York. He acknowledged Vietnam’s diplomatic successes and emphasized that Laos would continue to support Vietnam’s rise on the international stage, underpinned by their long-standing friendship.
