The Lao National Unexploded Ordnance Programme (UXO Lao) has recently inaugurated the UXO Lao Visitor Centre in Luang Prabang Province, enhancing it as a significant tourist attraction and educational hub in northern Laos. The centre, originally established in 2009, has attracted over 117,000 visitors, both domestic and international, and now features updated exhibits, including UXO remnants and documentaries that narrate the impact of unexploded ordnance in the region. Recent renovations, supported by the British government, the Lao Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), have prepared the centre to better serve visitors, particularly in anticipation of high-level ASEAN and ASEAN Plus meetings hosted in Laos.
