Cathay Pacific CEO Joins Hong Kong SAR Chief Executive on ASEAN Visit
Highlighting Growth and Economic Ties with Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam
Cathay Pacific Airlines Group CEO Ronald Lam joined Hong Kong SAR Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu on a six-day visit to Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam, underscoring the importance of ASEAN to Cathay’s growth strategy and Hong Kong’s economic future.
During the visit, Lam explored local businesses and infrastructure projects, seeking to strengthen trade, commerce, technology, and tourism ties between Hong Kong and ASEAN. Cathay plans to expand its ASEAN network, leveraging opportunities in these regional markets to bolster Hong Kong's status as an international aviation hub.
Cathay Pacific and HK Express currently serve 17 ASEAN destinations with over 360 weekly flights, demonstrating their commitment to global connectivity. Marking 75 years of flights to Vietnam, Cathay will launch new routes to Phu Quoc in late 2024 and has recently hired over 170 Vietnamese cabin crew. Additionally, Cathay will increase its Phnom Penh flights from five weekly to daily starting October 27, 2024, reflecting growing demand and confidence in Cambodia’s market.
