UNICEF and Laos Officials Review Child Support Programs in Savannakhet

Focus on Parenting and Youth Advocacy

Vice Minister of Planning and Investment Ms. Phonevanh Outhavong and UNICEF Representative to Laos Ms. Pia Rebello Britto visited Savannakhet province to review government and UNICEF-supported projects. The visit highlighted the "Love and Care for Every Child" (LCEC) program, which promotes positive parenting and youth advocacy.

Ms. Outhavong and Ms. Britto met with Vice Governor Mr. Sanesack Soulisack to discuss past achievements and future collaboration. They observed the LCEC initiative's impact on parenting practices and child development. The program covers maternal and newborn health, breastfeeding, and nutrition, benefiting over 40,000 families.

The visit also celebrated the 20th anniversary of the youth media initiative, promoting education and health through young reporters. Vice Minister Phonevanh emphasized the importance of empowering youth to drive positive change.

Reflecting on her tenure, Ms. Britto praised the partnership between the Lao government, UNICEF, and international partners in promoting education and healthcare for children.
