The Department of Meteorology and Hydrology has issued a warning about Tropical Storm Yagi, the 11th storm of 2024. As of 7:00 AM on September 8, the storm's center was located at 21.2 degrees north latitude and 104.9 degrees east longitude, with maximum winds of 65 kilometers per hour.

The storm is moving westward at a speed of 10 to 15 kilometers per hour and is expected to weaken into a depression by the evening. It is forecasted to pass through Phongsaly Province in northern Laos tomorrow morning.

This weakening storm will bring widespread rainfall across the northern regions of Laos, affecting provinces including Phongsaly, Huaphan, Xieng Khouang, Oudomxay, Bokeo, Luang Namtha, Luang Prabang, Xayaboury, Vientiane, Xaysomboun, Vientiane Province, Borikhamxay, and Khammuan. Rainfall will range from moderate to heavy, accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds in certain areas from September 8 to 10, 2024.

Residents and local authorities are advised to remain vigilant, with warnings of potential landslides, flash floods, and rising water levels, particularly in urban areas.
