Thai Government Urges Neighboring Workers to Depart Ahead of Visa Expiration

Call to Action for Workers from Laos, Cambodia, and Myanmar Amid Visa Deadline
The Thai government's recent announcement has sparked attention as it urges workers from neighboring Laos, Cambodia, and Myanmar to depart Thailand before the end of April to avoid legal consequences. With visas set to expire on April 30, the government's call emphasizes the importance of timely departure to evade potential penalties for overstaying. Originally brought into the Thai workforce under a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on labor collaboration, workers from these countries saw their contractual term conclude in January. However, the government extended work permits until April, facilitating re-employment efforts by employers and collaboration with neighboring governments to streamline the process. As the deadline approaches, workers are advised to exit through designated checkpoints, ensuring compliance with immigration regulations to minimize disruptions.
