Prime Minister Sonexay Meets AIIB President to Discuss Infrastructure Cooperation

Vientiane leaders focus on enhancing regional connectivity through AIIB collaboration
Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone welcomed Jin Liqun, President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), in Vientiane on October 9, 2024, during the ASEAN Summits. The two discussed expanding cooperation between Laos and the AIIB, particularly in infrastructure development and regional connectivity projects.

Prime Minister Sonexay praised AIIB's financial support, which has been pivotal in Laos' socio-economic development, helping improve key infrastructure. The discussions emphasized the role of the AIIB in fostering continued progress in Laos and the ASEAN region.

The AIIB, founded by Chinese President Xi Jinping, has 80 member countries, including Laos, and focuses on infrastructure development and sustainable economic growth in Asia.
