Organic Coffee Project Empowers Women Farmers in Laos

Super We Coffee initiative promotes sustainable farming and boosts incomes in Dak Chung district.
In Dak Yoi village, Dak Chung district, the "Super We Coffee" project has become a lifeline for farmers like Ms. Loymany Xaya-iew, empowering women through sustainable coffee production. This initiative integrates ethical and eco-friendly practices, enhancing livelihoods for highland communities while increasing household incomes.

Ms. Loymany’s family, who previously struggled with traditional farming methods, transitioned to organic coffee farming in 2017 with support from the project. Training in chemical-free techniques and access to essential equipment transformed their yields. By 2023, the family earned over fifty million Lao Kip, enabling them to expand their plantation by another hectare.

Grateful for the project’s support, Ms. Loymany hopes the initiative will continue to enhance the quality of Dak Chung’s coffee, enabling it to gain recognition in domestic and international markets, while fostering sustainability.
