New Train Service to Connect Bangkok and Vientiane
Enhanced Travel Between Thailand and Laos
The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) is launching a new train service linking Bangkok to Vientiane, Laos, starting on 19 July. This service aims to improve travel and logistical connections between the two countries, offering a direct route from Bangkok Central Station to Vientiane’s Khamsavath Station.
The journey will begin at 9:25 pm from Bangkok Central Station, arriving at Khamsavath Station at 9:05 am the next day. This extension of the existing Bangkok-Nong Khai route provides a more convenient travel option for passengers between the two capitals.
Tickets for a one-way trip are expected to start at 300 Thai Baht, providing an affordable travel option. Upon arrival in Vientiane, travelers can use various public transport options to reach downtown Vientiane, located 8 kilometers away.
This initiative, developed in collaboration with Lao National Railways, follows a successful trial run in May. The new service is part of the ongoing Lao-Thai Railway Project, which faced delays but is now set to enhance connectivity and promote tourism between Thailand and Laos.
