On March 11, 2025, a groundbreaking ceremony was held for the construction of a new suspension bridge crossing the Ma River at Phae Village, Ed District, Huaphan Province. The event was attended by Mr. Khampheng Xaysompheng, Governor of Huaphan Province, along with provincial and district leaders, contractors, project owners, local authorities, and residents.

The new bridge, designed to span 162 meters in length and 2.4 meters in width, will be primarily constructed from steel and supported by steel-reinforced concrete pillars. Funded by the central government at a cost of nine billion kip, the project aims to replace the temporary bamboo bridge that is built annually by locals. This new infrastructure will significantly improve transportation and facilitate the movement of goods for residents of Phae Village and surrounding communities.

Bounthavisap Group has been appointed as the contractor for the project, which is expected to be completed within eight months. This development is seen as a major step toward improving regional infrastructure and connectivity, supporting both the local economy and daily life.
