The 7th Tourism Ministers’ Meeting for Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Vietnam (CLMV) took place in Yangon on Friday, marking a significant step toward enhancing regional collaboration in tourism promotion and marketing. Key discussions focused on creating a shared CLMV tourism website or information database, expanding participation in international tourism events, and utilizing cost-effective digital marketing campaigns to increase regional tourism outreach. Myanmar’s Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism, Thet Thet Khine, highlighted the importance of deepening ties among the four countries to collectively foster growth in the tourism sector.

The meeting also emphasized the strong recovery of international visitor arrivals to the CLMV nations. In 2022, these countries welcomed 7.5 million international visitors, which surged to 22.8 million in 2023. Preliminary data for 2024 indicates a steady trend, with 21.3 million international visitors recorded from January to September. This growth signals the ongoing success of regional efforts to boost tourism, making the CLMV countries increasingly attractive travel destinations.

Looking ahead, the 8th Tourism Ministers’ Meeting is set to take place in Vietnam in 2026, continuing the positive momentum for regional tourism collaboration and growth.
