Luang Prabang Deputy Governor Provides Relief to Flood-Affected Villages

Deputy Governor leads efforts to aid seven flood-hit villages, stresses unity and health precautions
Mr. Bounleum Maniwong, Deputy Governor of Luang Prabang Province, along with members of the Provincial Disaster Management Committee, visited and provided relief supplies to the residents of seven villages in Pakxeng District, Luang Prabang Province. These beneficiary communities included Hadchang, Nong, Hadphouan, Sobwat, Pho, Hadwan, and Thathien, which were flooded on July 24-25.

Mr. Bounleum Maniwong expressed concern for the affected families' livelihoods and urged district authorities and all sectors to promote unity and mutual assistance. He emphasized the need to restore normal living conditions promptly and prevent waterborne diseases. Affected families include 50 in Nong, 15 in Hadchang, 17 in Hadphouan, seven each in Sobwat, Pho, and Hadwan, and nine in Thathien. Among these, 96 households in five villages were heavily affected, with six houses swept away, 14 severely damaged and uninhabitable, and 76 moderately damaged. Total damages amounted to over 1.95 billion kip, and the road between Pakxeng and Viengkham districts remains impassable.

Relief supplies provided included 30 million kip in cash, drinking water, clothing, and essential items worth 25 million kip. Additionally, the Department of Public Works and Transport presented ready-to-eat meals and drinking water worth 2 million kip for further distribution to the flood-affected residents.
