The Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare (MLSW) will organize the 4th National Skills Competition from April 28-30, 2025, under the theme “Lao Skills Advancing to Regional and International Levels.” The competition will serve as a platform to select the best-skilled workers who will represent Laos at the 14th ASEAN Skills Competition in the Philippines in August 2025.

Deputy Minister Phongxaysack Inthalath, Chairman of the Organizing Committee, announced that the competition will feature five skill categories: Electrical Installation in Buildings, Graphic Design Technology, Food Preparation, Wood Cabinet Making, and Website Technology. These events will take place at various vocational institutions, such as the Institute of Labor Skills Development and Pakpasak Technical College.

The competition highlights Laos’ focus on improving workforce skills and aligning them with regional and international standards. It also encourages young people and vocational students to pursue skills development, contributing to a new generation of highly skilled professionals. Phongxaysack emphasized that this initiative will help increase employer confidence and foster stronger cooperation between businesses and vocational institutions.
