Laos has welcomed 3.3 million international visitors in the first 10 months of 2024, a 19 percent increase compared to the same period last year, according to a report from the Ministry of Information, Culture, and Tourism.

From January to October, Thailand, Vietnam, and China were identified as the top sources of foreign tourists to Laos. This surge in visitors has been driven by the ongoing Visit Laos Year 2024 campaign, which has implemented several initiatives to attract more international guests. The government has introduced visa-free entry and extended the stay duration for visitors from select countries, helping make Laos more accessible to tourists.

To further boost tourism, authorities and operators have enhanced services at hotels, guesthouses, and restaurants. New facilities have been added to tourist sites to improve the overall visitor experience. The Lao Prime Minister, Sonexay Siphandone, mentioned that the government will continue its focus on tourism in 2025 by targeting specific groups and fostering closer collaboration between the public and private sectors to ensure sustainable growth in the tourism industry.
