Laos National Assembly Adopts 13 New and Revised Laws
New legislations target agriculture and health system integration
The National Assembly (NA) of Laos has approved 13 laws to boost socio-economic growth, following extensive debates among members.
Two new laws were introduced: the Cooperative Law, aimed at empowering farmers with better market access, and the Law on Medicinal Resources, which addresses unregulated medicinal material collection and integrates traditional medicine into the national health system.
Revisions were made to 11 existing laws, including the Anti-Corruption Law, Environmental Protection Law, and Value-Added Tax Law. Vice President of the NA, Chaleun Yiapaoher, announced the changes on July 1 and emphasized the need for all sectors to familiarize themselves with the new regulations for effective implementation.
The NA aims to strengthen state and economic management and protect citizens' rights, urging government bodies, private enterprises, and the public to engage actively for successful enforcement.
