Laos and Thailand signed six key cooperation agreements during Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra’s official visit to Laos yesterday. The visit, aimed at bolstering bilateral relations and sustainable development, saw the signing of memoranda covering water resource management, civil servant management, rail freight transport, and the reinforcement of the Lao-Thai Friendship Bridge.

The agreements reflect the commitment of both nations to enhance collaboration in various sectors, with future plans focusing on political-security ties, border management, and tackling transboundary issues like the drug trade and pollution. The two prime ministers also celebrated the strong diplomatic ties ahead of the 75th anniversary of Laos-Thailand relations in 2025.

Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone welcomed Prime Minister Paetongtarn’s visit, marking Laos as the first foreign nation visited by Thailand's new prime minister. Both leaders emphasized the importance of ongoing cooperation to drive regional growth and stability.
