Lao Bodybuilders Shine with Double Gold at World Championship in the Maldives

Chintana Khambounheuang and Khamla Samavong secure victory for Laos at the 15th World Bodybuilding Championship.
Two Lao bodybuilders, Chintana Khambounheuang and Khamla Samavong, each won gold at the recent 15th World Bodybuilding Championship held in the Maldives. Chintana claimed gold in the Swimming Suit category and two silver medals in the female physique categories, while Khamla took gold in the Men’s Athletic Physique (under 160 cm) and achieved a fourth place in the Couple Performance with Sita Thongsoulin.

Reflecting on their achievements, the athletes highlighted the dedication and discipline required in bodybuilding. Both plan to compete in the 16th championship in China next year and to mentor junior athletes in Laos, aiming to build on this success.

Laos’s performance in the Maldives marked a milestone, with the Lao team winning five medals in total. Vice President of the Lao National Bodybuilding Federation, Khammamaivanh Vongxay, expressed pride in the team’s historic success and hinted at Laos’s bid to host the 17th championship in 2026.
