Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Ba Hung was awarded the prestigious third-class Itsala (Freedom) Order of Laos on July 29. This honor recognizes his significant contributions to enhancing the friendship, solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos during his nearly eight-year tenure.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Saleumxay Kommasith presented the decoration on behalf of the Lao Prime Minister. Kommasith praised Ambassador Hung's efforts in strengthening the political, economic, cultural, and tourism ties between the two nations. He highlighted Hung's role in facilitating major Vietnamese investments in Laos, contributing to the country's socio-economic development.

Ambassador Hung expressed his deep honor at receiving the Itsala Order, viewing it as a symbol of the strong bond between the two countries. He reflected on his experiences and participation in numerous significant political events during his tenure, considering Laos his second home. The award serves as a profound motivation for him and his colleagues to further enhance Vietnam-Laos relations for mutual benefit.

Ambassador Hung is the first foreign diplomat to receive the third-class Itsala Order, traditionally awarded to Lao citizens for outstanding achievements in national defense, construction, and development. He pledged to continue his efforts to deepen the Vietnam-Laos friendship across all sectors.
