Singapore Airlines and Garuda Indonesia Joint Venture Approved

Singapore Airlines and Garuda Indonesia have received approval for a joint venture, enabling collaborations on revenue-sharing flights and coordinated schedules to enhance connectivity between Singapore and Indonesia. Originally announced in May 2023, the partnership aims to boost passenger capacity and support economic growth. This venture includes key routes and joint marketing initiatives to promote tourism and post-pandemic recovery.
On July 5, Singapore Airlines (SIA) and Garuda Indonesia received approval for a joint venture that enables collaboration on various commercial activities between Singapore and Indonesia.

The activities include revenue-sharing flights, coordinated flight schedules, seamless connectivity, and joint sales and marketing initiatives.

Initially announced in May 2023, the JV aims to increase passenger capacity and allow frequent flyer members to earn and redeem miles on codeshare flights.

Key routes include Singapore to Bali, Jakarta, Medan, Surabaya, Johannesburg, London, and Mumbai.

This partnership also focuses on boosting tourism and supporting post-pandemic economic recovery in Indonesia.

Garuda's CEO, Irfan Setiaputra, and SIA's CEO, Goh Choon Phong, highlighted the JV's potential to enhance service quality and connectivity, contributing to business and leisure travel, and overall economic growth.

On July 5, SIA's shares closed at one dollar and 6.98, down 0.4 percent before the announcement.
