Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on July 25 received General Chansamone Chanyalath, Deputy PM and Minister of National Defence of Laos, who attended the state funeral for Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. PM Chinh expressed gratitude to the Lao Party, State, Government, and people for their condolences and support during this time of great loss, emphasizing the late leader's dedication to the Vietnam-Laos relationship.

PM Chinh highlighted General Secretary Trong's commitment to the special bilateral ties, particularly in defense and security, which he considered vital pillars. He urged continued cooperation between the two countries' armies to enhance defense capacity, maintain a peaceful and stable shared borderline, and improve the lives of border residents. He also called for increased high-level visits, border defense exchanges, and partnerships in education and training.

Deputy PM Chansamone Chanyalath offered condolences on behalf of the Lao Party, State, and people, agreeing with PM Chinh's proposals. He affirmed that the Lao Ministry of National Defence would continue collaborating with its Vietnamese counterpart to strengthen delegation exchanges, ideological education, and various defense activities, thereby contributing to the enduring friendship and cooperation between the two nations.
