The European Union and UNICEF Lao PDR have donated information and communication technology equipment valued at six hundred seventy thousand US dollars to the Ministry of Education and Sports to advance the nation’s digital education strategy. This initiative, part of the Partnership to Strengthen Education System, aims to support the digital transformation of Laos' education system.

The donation includes desktop computers, laptops, scanners, conferencing systems, and tablets. Minister of Education and Sports Phouth Simmalavong highlighted the transformative impact of this partnership, emphasizing the importance of technological innovations in enhancing the education system. The new Digital Strategy for Education, developed with support from the Ministry of Education and Sports, the European Union, and UNICEF partnership, aims to improve equitable and affordable digital access, digital skills, and data management in Laos' education sector.

European Union Ambassador to Laos Ina Marčiulionytė and UNICEF Representative to Laos Pia Rebello Britto both underscored the significance of this collaboration. Marčiulionytė emphasized the European Union's commitment to strengthening the education sector, while Britto highlighted the role of technology in achieving educational equity. The ceremony also celebrated key achievements of the Partnership to Strengthen Education System, such as the education management information system, the digital learning platform Khang Panya Lao, and initiatives ensuring learning continuity during the COVID-19 pandemic.
