The ASEAN Express cargo train, connecting Malaysia, Thailand, Laos, and China, completed its first inbound trip to Malaysia on July 11 after a 14-day journey to Chongqing, China.

According to The Star, the train, carrying 20 wagons of 40-foot containers, began its journey on June 27. Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bh (KTMB) COO Mohd Zain Mat Taha expressed hope for more trips between these countries, noting the nine-day one-way trip through Thailand, Laos, and China.

KTMB's Abdul Salim Shah Abdul Aziz mentioned that while the exact schedule is unconfirmed, they anticipate two to three trips a month, with plans for daily trains as the service expands. The ASEAN Express aims to enhance trade connectivity by reducing transit time to China compared to sea transport.
