In 2025, Laos witnessed significant advancements in its digital landscape, fueled by faster internet speeds and growing mobile phone use. The latest report from the State of Digital in Laos reveals that nearly 64% of the population, or 4.97 million people, are now online. Despite this growth, 2.85 million remain offline.

Mobile connectivity surged, with 6.78 million mobile connections, covering 86.7% of the population. As mobile broadband networks expanded, fixed broadband speeds averaged 34.62 Mbps, marking a 17.8% increase from the previous year. Social media also flourished, with 4.25 million active users, making up 54.3% of the population. The majority of social media activity occurs on mobile devices, with users primarily in the 25 to 34 age group.

Android devices remain dominant for mobile web traffic at 68.7%, though Apple iOS has seen growth, now accounting for 31.14% of traffic. This digital evolution mirrors global trends, as worldwide internet users reached 5.56 billion and social media users topped 5.24 billion in 2025.
