Laos and Cambodia Leaders Congratulate Vietnam's New Party General Secretary To Lam

Regional Leaders Express Confidence in To Lam's Leadership
Lao Party General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith, along with President of the Cambodian People's Party Hun Sen, extended their congratulations to Vietnamese President To Lam on his recent election as Party General Secretary.

In his congratulatory message, Thongloun Sisoulith expressed his honor and delight at To Lam's election, emphasizing his belief that under To Lam's leadership, Vietnam will achieve greater accomplishments in its renewal efforts and progress towards becoming a modern, socialist-oriented industrialized nation. He reiterated his commitment to strengthening the special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Vietnam.

Hun Sen echoed these sentiments, noting that To Lam's election demonstrates the trust and confidence of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Vietnamese people in his leadership. He expressed optimism that the traditional friendship and cooperation between Cambodia and Vietnam will continue to flourish, contributing to the peace and stability of the region.

To Lam, 67, was elected with a 100% vote by the 13th Party Central Committee for the 2021-2026 term. He has been a member of the Party Central Committee since January 2011, a Politburo member since January 2016, and a National Assembly delegate for multiple terms. Promoted to the rank of general in early 2019, To Lam was elected state president in May 2021, solidifying his prominent role in Vietnam's political landscape.
