In a significant stride towards combating call center scams, Laos has collaborated with China in a joint operation leading to the arrest and extradition of 250 Chinese suspects involved in cross-border scams. The operation, facilitated by China’s Ministry of Public Security (MPS), underscores the commitment of both nations to crack down on illicit activities which impact on citizens' financial security.

During the raids, authorities seized over 1000 mobile phones and computers used for executing the fraudulent schemes. While specific details regarding the locations of the dens were not disclosed, Chinese State Media reported that the suspects were engaged in swindling Chinese nationals through telecommunication scams, causing substantial financial losses.

The successful apprehension and extradition of the suspects highlight the effectiveness of cross-border cooperation in tackling transnational crimes. Moving forward, both Laos and China have confirmed their determination to strengthen collaboration in combating phone scams and other cross-border criminal activities, bolstering regional security and stability.
